Annual herb 3–30 cm high.. Stem slender, usually branched from the base.. Leaves sessile, broadly ovate to elliptic-ovate, 5–10 mm long, 3–6 mm wide, acute.. Inflorescences terminal, few-to many-flowered dichasial cymes; bracts ovate to elliptic-lanceolate, acute.. Flowers 5-merous, bright yellow or pure white.. Calyx lobes ovate-lanceolate, 3–7.5 mm long, 1–3 mm wide, not winged, but often with a distinct ridge, acute.. Corolla tube 3–10 mm long; lobes obovate-oblong to obovate-circular, 2–7.5 mm long, 0.5–4 mm wide, obtuse.. Filaments inserted on the corolla tube, up to 3 mm long; anthers 1–4 mm long, recurved at their tips, with 1 globose stipitate apical gland, and two small stipitate basal glands.. Ovary ovate, 1.5–2 mm long, ± 1 mm diameter; style ± 1.7 mm long with (sometimes confluent to stigma) or without swelling at the middle; stigma clavate to ± capitate, bilobed, lobes ± 0.3 mm long.. Capsule obovoid, 2–3 mm long, ± 1.5 mm diameter.. Seeds 0.1–0.2 mm, surface with continuous longitudinal ridges.
Erect, annual herb, 0.07-0.50 m high. Leaves up to 40 x 20 mm, crowded near base, scattered along stem. Flowers in few-to many-flowered cymes or corymbs. Calyx: segments 5, elliptic-lanceolate to ovate, keeled or winged. Corolla yellow; tube 3-10 mm long, clawed. Stamens inserted in or up to 0.75 mm below corolla sinuses; anthers with stipitate apical and 2 basal glands. Style with or without small to large swelling; stigma clavate to subcapitate, bilobed. Fruit a capsule.
Erect annual, 50-300 mm tall. Leaves orbicular-ovate to elliptic. Flowers 5-lobed, yellow, calyx keeled or winged with ± opaque sides, stamens inserted in or anthers each with a shortly stalked, round, apical gland and 2 small, shortly stalked, basal glands, style swelling in basal half of style or absent.
