Subshrub with erect or spreading leafy branches, up to 0.3 m. or more long and 10 cm. tall, from a woody rootstock; branchlets adpressedly pubescent or with dense patent hairs.. Leaves subsessile; blade oblong or elliptic, 1.5–3 cm. long, 0.55–2.5 cm. wide, acute and mucronulate at the apex, rounded at the base, pilose to densely hirsute with medifixed hairs; petiole up to 2 mm. long.. Flowers in few-flowered hairy dense sessile or subsessile axillary cymes, rarely solitary.. Sepals green, with ovate ± subcoriaceous bases and herbaceous acute apices, 4–5 mm. long and 2 mm. wide, pubescent or hirsute.. Corolla white, 5–6 mm. long.. Capsule 3–5 mm. long, ovoid, glabrous.. Seeds globose, black, 2 mm. in diameter.
Leaves subsessile; leaf lamina from lanceolate to broadly elliptic-oblong, 7–45 × 3–13 mm. acuminate, acute or rounded at the apex and mucronulate, rounded at the base, pilose to densely hirsute on both surfaces with medifixed hairs; petiole up to 3 mm. long.
Stems several to many from a woody rootstock, up to 60 cm., erect or spreading, terete or subterete, at first more or less densely covered with more or less whitish hairs to villous, glabrescent; branchelets appressed pubescent or with dense patent hairs.
Sepals up to 8 mm. long, the three outer lanceolate, diversely acuminate, sometimes retrorse, inner ones slightly shorter, all with ovate more or less subcoriacepus bases and herbaceous acute apices, pubescent or hirsute.
Flowers in few-flowered hairy dense sessile or pedunculate axillary cymes, sometimes solitary; peduncles, up to 23 mm. long in our area, bearing one to several flowers; bracteoles shorter than the calyx, lanceolate.
Corolla somewhat campanulate, white or yellowish, up to 6 mm. long, midpetaline area more or less densely pubescent.
An extremely variable suffruticose or herbaceous perennial.
Capsule ovoid-subglobose, glabrous.
Seeds globose, black, glabrous.
Ovary hairy at the apice.
