Characteristics

Annual, straggling herb, 0.10-0.75 m high. Flowers axillary on terminal branchlets, solitary, small, 10 mm in diam.; pedicels long and slender. Epicalyx 0. Calyx mostly shallowly campanulate, tube conspicuously nerved, lobes 3x length of tube, ovate. Petals white. Flowering time all year. Fruit a schizocarp, mericarps eventually falling away from slender columella. Mericarps 5, ± 3-angled, awnless at apex, dorsal wall rugose, lateral walls reticulate and persistent, glabrous. Seeds ± 3-angled.
