Characteristics

Tall, slender, terrestrial or epiphytic herbs up to 1.5 m. tall. Leaves 8-22 cm. long and 3-7 cm. broad, elliptic to lanceolate, acuminate, glabrous above, more or less scurfy below; leaf-sheaths verruculose or obscurely punctate. In-florescence 1-flowered; the flowers large. Sepals and petals white, the lip white with the throat yellow to orange. Sepals 5-8.5 cm. long and 1.5-2.5 cm. broad, linear-lanceolate to oblong. Petals 5-7 cm. long and 2.5-3.5 cm. broad, oblong to obovate. Lip 5-7 cm. long and up to 5 cm. broad, obovate, enfolding the column, somewhat retuse, margin undulate, with short calluses at the base and 1-3 thickened nerves above. Column 3-4.6 cm. long.
