Flowers unisexual, solitary in axils, small, green, subtended by a bract and 2 bracteoles. Perianth 4-or 5-lobed. Male flowers in axils above females; stamens 4. Female flowers with short style; stigmatic hairs forming a dense deciduous tuft. Achenes ellipsoid, smooth, brown, enclosed in persistent perianth, bract and bracteoles.
