Characteristics

Perennial herb, hemiparasite, (0.10-)0.15-0.60 m high; most parts grey-or white-felted; stems shrubby at base, stiffly herbaceous and sometimes branched above, erect, virgate, few ribbed, leafy, often with axillary leaf tufts or short-shoots. Leaves sessile, simple, 12-30 x 0.7-1.0 mm, linear, obtuse, entire, spreading. Inflorescence a leafy and bracteate, terminal raceme, sometimes panicled; flowers often pink, also mauve to purple. Calyx campanulate, shortly 5-cleft, often finely tomentose; teeth subdeltate, subacute. Corolla 5-cleft, tube ± as long as lobes; lobes subrotate, Sub-Equal, rounded, crenulate. Flowering time Jan.-Mar.
