Characteristics

Shrub or small tree 5–10 m. high; young branches glabrous but later covered with lenticels.. Leaves imparipinnate; petiole and rachis 10–20(28) cm. long, terete; petiolules 5–17 mm. long in the lower leaflets, and 3–9 cm. long in terminal leaflets; leaflets opposite to partly alternate, elliptic-lanceolate or elliptic-oblong, 6–19 cm. long, 2.5–8.5 cm. broad, acuminate to cuspidate at the apex, obtuse at the base, margin entire and slightly undulate, membranous to chartaceous; lateral nerves 8–10 pairs.. Panicles up to 15 cm. long, borne below the leaves, pyramidal, glabrous.. Flower buds 5–6 mm. long, 3 mm. broad, ellipsoid.. Male flowers white and red; calyx 5-lobed, ± 2 mm. long; lobes triangular-ovate, acute; petals linear-oblong, 5–6 mm. long, 2–3 mm. broad; stamens 13–20; filaments 3 mm. long; anthers upright, 2 mm. long; pistillode absent.. Female flowers and fruits not seen.
