Characteristics

Pseudobulbs 30–50 × 30–50 mm. Leaves 4–7 per pseudobulb, on stalks 60–120 mm long, 0.8–1.8 m × 30–50 mm, dark green to yellowish, pleated. Flower stem 0.3–1.2 m long, 6–30-flowered. Flowers 20–30 × 20–30 mm, mauve to purple, rarely white, sometimes hardly opening. Dorsal sepal 12–20 × 5–7 mm, erect. Lateral sepals 12–20 × 5–7 mm, divergent. Petals 10–18 × 8–9 mm, widely spreading. Labellum 9–12 × 9–10 mm, base hairy; lateral lobes narrow, erect; midlobe spoon-shaped, base with 2 yellow, sparsely hairy calli (often fused together).
