Characteristics

Annual herb to 100 cm, straggling, almost glabrous to papillose. Basal leaves entire to deeply pinnatisect, to 4, rarely 8, cm long, non-persistent; cauline leaves few, scattered, entire and linear or oblanceolate or dentate or coarsely lobed. Sepals 2.5–5 mm long; laterals strongly saccate. Petals 6–20 mm long, very variable in shape, size and colour, tip up to 10 times as long as lamina or absent, white to cream to yellow to deep orange. Stigma obscurely bilobed. Silicula 5–9 mm long, elliptic to sub-orbicular or obovoid, compressed; pedicels horizontal to recurved, 2–6 mm long, robust. Seeds 2 mm long, oblong to suborbicular, flattened, 6–12 per locule; radicle accumbent.
