Perennial, geophytic herb, 25-380 mm high; stems erect, well branched. Leaves narrowly ovate, 4-48 x 1-3 mm, base sometimes sagittate. Inflorescences pedunculate, 3-5-flowered. Flowers: corolla campanulate, lobes flat, erect, margins revolute, apex recurved, outside green with brownish streak in middle, inside paler green to cream-coloured. Flowering time Oct.-Mar., with peak in Nov.-Feb. Fruit a follicle with echinate, 4 mm long processes.
