Inflorescence a narrow, branched panicle; densely hairy, hairs longer and thicker on swollen part just below spikelets. Spikelets 8-9 mm long (excluding awn), disarticulating above glumes; glumes firm, acute; upper glume 7-9 mm long. Floret 1; lemma indurated, articulation ± in middle of lemma; awns 3, all awns plumose down to branching point and just below on column; column short, stout; callus 1.5-2.0 mm long, narrow, with a very short pungent point.
