Characteristics

Compactly tufted to prostrate and spreading annual to 100 mm high; leaves mainly basal; culms short, very poorly developed. Leaf blade to 30 x to 1 mm. Inflorescence contracted, dense, much branched, main axis not visible. Spikelet 15-16 mm long; glumes glabrous; lemma articulation between apex of lemma and base of column; column very long, glabrous or sometimes with a few scattered hairs shorter than 1.5 mm; only central awn plumose; callus 0.8-1.0 mm long, apex naked, pungent; anther 1.7-2.5 mm long.
