Characteristics

S. duthieae valde affine, foliis exacte similibus, sed receptaculi tubo breviore, sepalis longioribus petalaque citrina bene excedentibus, stigmatibus ultra receptaculum omnino exsertis, differt. Flores sessiles, a vespere ad merinoctem expansi, corolla 2 cm. diam.; receptaculum leviter compressum, 7 mm. longum cum tubo 1-5 mm., ad 8-5 mm., aliter 7 mm., diam.; sepala 0.9-1.1 cm. longa. basi 2.5-4 mm. lata, exteriora apice oblique rotundata vel subtruncata, lat. compressa, ad 2 mm. diam.; petala cum staminodiis petaloideis ea. 6-seriata, laxa. in flore nuperrime aperto etiani stamina haud occultantia, pallide citrina vel fere straminea, acuta vel acuminata, ad 9 mm. longa, vix ad 0.5 mm. lata; lilamenta 7-8-seriata, ad 5 mm. longa, pallidissima, antheris luteis; fossae bene visae, nectare copioso; ovarium medium versus per 2 mm. elevatum, tubum receptaculi parum superans, lobis dorso leviter convexis, basin stigmatum occnltant ibus; stigmata globose obovata. 2 mm. longa.

Perennial, caespitose, dwarf shrublet, up to 0.03 m high. Leaves glaucous, trigonous, margins with 3 or 4 prominent teeth, epidermis dotted with white elevations, keel without teeth, keels of older leaves forming a chin. Flowers solitary, pale lemon-yellow. Capsules not known.
