Characteristics

Perennial rosulate herb, rhizome stout; leaves 50-200 x 20-40 mm, narrowly obovate, base cuneate, decurrent on petiole; petiolode 5-18 x 3-6 mm. Inflorescence 2-16-flowered; peduncle arising from petiolode, 70-130 mm long, densely pilose; bracts vestigial or linear-ovate, 2-3 x 0.5-1 mm, densely pilose; pedicel 7-12 mm, densely pilose. Sepals linear-deltate, 2.5-3.0 x 1 mm, densely pilose on both surfaces; corolla pentamerous, tube cylindrical, 12-15 x 3.0-3.5 mm wide, glandular pilose outside, glabrous within, white, floor with a lemon yellow bar, lobes white, subequal, oblong,3.5-4.0 x 2.5 mm. Stamens arising in basal third of corolla tube; filaments 3.5-4.0 mm long, twisted, white, minutely glandular near connective; anthers2-3 x 1 mm, white; posterior staminode minute or absent, lateral staminodes 1.8-2.0 mm; pollen prolate, 22-24 x 11-13 pm, tectum scabrate-perfortate, perforations punctate, irregularly distributed, widely spaced, 0.1-0.15 pm in diameter, scabrae c. 0.2 µm. Ovary 5.0-6.5 x 1.25-1.5 mm, densely strigose, eglandular; style 4.5-6 mm, white, sparingly glandular-pilose in distal third, glabrous from 0.5 mm below stigma; stigma white, 2-lipped, elliptic, 1.2-1.5 mm wide. Capsule pilose, up to 45 mm long; seed 0.5-0.9 mm, narrowly ellipsoid, testa reticulate.
