Characteristics

Corolla (to tip of extended lower lobe) 7–8 cm. long, arcuate, inflated above the base on the upper side, maximum diam. of tube (as pressed) 13 mm.; corolla tube white, lobes white outside but with the medium violet of the inner surface showing through, floor of tube with deeper violet blotch at base of inferior lip, two yellow spots usually present below sinuses of inferior lip.

Leaf of flowering plant always withered at apex where the terminal part has abscinded during the unfavourable season, up to 30 cm. long and 20 cm. broad, pilose on both surfaces.
Peduncle up to 15 cm. long, with spreading glandular and eglandular hairs.
Stamens arising 4 cm. above the base of tube; filaments 15 mm. long.
Calyx segments 5.5 mm. long.
Gynoecium 6 cm. long.
