Characteristics

Perennial rosulate herbs, rhizome stout; leaves 80-300 x 38-78 mm, narrowly obovate, base cuneate, decurrent on petiole; petiolode 5-57 x 5-8 mm. Inflorescence 1-2-flowered; peduncle arising from petiolode, 120-190 mm, pilose; bracts vestigial; pedicel 20-66 mm, pilose. SEPALS linear-lanceolate,8-10 x 2.5-3.0 mm, pilose; corolla pentamerous, tube campanulate, 23-28 x 5 mm wide at base, 14-17 mm wide at throat, moderately pilose outside, shortly pilose on floor of tube inside, roof of mouth shortly pilose, pale lilac outside, uniformly lilac within, floor with a bright yellow cruciform bar, within tube; lobes uniformly lilac, suborbicular, 20-22 x 20-22 mm, lower lip 26 mm. Stamens arising in distal half of corolla tube, filaments 10-12 mm, twisted, white, minutely glandular, anther lobes 3.0-4.5 mm, dark purple; posterior staminode minute, lateral staminodes c. 2.0-3.5 mm; pollen prolate, 20-23 x 10-14 µm, tectum scabrate-perfortate, perforations punctate, irregularly distributed, widely spaced, 0.09-0.12 µm diameter, scabrae 0.1-0.2 pm. Ovary 18-20 mm, pubescent; style 10-13 mm long, white, glandular-pilose; stigma white, 2-lipped. Capsule pilose, 100-180 mm; seed 0.5-0.9 mm, narrowly ellipsoid, testa reticulate.
