Characteristics

Leaves about 5, biseriate near the apex of the rhizome; petiolode c.4 cm. long at flowering, petiole c. 5 cm., both pubescent; lamina elongate-oblong or narrowly elliptic, 22–27 × 4–6 cm., with short appressed sericeous hairs on upper surface and veins below, subglabrous between the veins below, lateral veins numerous, c. 5–10 mm. apart, margin irregularly and closely denticulate.

Corolla tube narrowly cylindrical in the lower 5 cm., funnel-shaped in upper 2.5 cm., sparsely spreading-pubescent outside; upper lobes 7×7 mm., laterals 10 × 7 mm., median 12 × 8 mm., all obtuse.
Stamens with filaments 8 mm. long, glabrous, arising 5 cm. above the base of the corolla; anthers 3 mm. long, 3 mm. broad across the divergent thecae at the base, connective dorsally thickened.
Ovary c. 2.5 cm. long, densely appressed-pubescent, gradually narrowed into the 4.5 cm. long style; stigma horizontally bilobed, the lower lobe the larger.
Inflorescences 2–14-flowered; peduncle up to 11 cm. long, appressed-pubescent; primary pedicels 1.5–2 cm. long, paired.
Capsule 8 cm. long, tipped by the 2–3 cm. long persistent part of the style.
Calyx divided nearly to the base into 5 linear segments 7 mm. long.
