Characteristics

Perennial herb, lithophyte, 0.16-0.25 m high. Leaves up to 450 x 110 mm, base cuneate, decurrent on petiole. Inflorescence 70-105 mm long. Calyx segments linear to lanceolate, pilose. Corolla 65-105 mm long; tube narrowly funnel-shaped; lobes whitish outside with medium-violet rim; tube floor longitudinally divided by a bright yellow zone widening in throat, extending briefly to lower lip, yellow zone streaked with 5 main veins, minutely spotted violet-purple. Stamens arising 2/3 up tube. Ovary 25 mm long, pubescent, passing into long, white style. Flowering time Aug.-Feb. Fruit a capsule, 111-179 mm long. Seed 0.5-0.9 mm.

Corolla tube whitish outside, floor of tube longitudinally divided by a bright yellow zone widening in throat and extending briefly onto the lower lip, the yellow streaked violet-purple, rest of tube minutely spotted violet-purple; all lobes whitish, the margin medium violet, the colour suffused inwards, 5 main veins on lobes of lower lip minutely spotted violet-purple. Capsule 111-179(135 ± 13) mm long.
