Characteristics

Corolla 14 mm. long, white with relatively large purple blotches on the palate and the floor of the tube, outside glabrous or sparsely glandular-pubescent, inside with long unicellular clavate hairs on floor of tube and palate; tube subcylindrical, slightly curved downwards and upwards, 7mm. long, c . 3 mm. across mouth; limb oblique, upper lip of 2 erect suborbicular lobes c. 1.5 mm. long, lower Up 6 mm. long, lobes oblong-elliptic, c. 4 × 2.5 mm.

Leaves several from a minute axis, prostrate, oblong-lanceolate, shortly stalked, up to 150 × 20 mm., often much smaller, midrib and lateral veins strongly raised below, depressed above, the leaf lamina ridged between them, apex obtuse, base cuneate, margin crenate, dark green above, often purplish below, pilose with spreading hairs on both surfaces.
Stamens arising in lower third of corolla tube, filaments 3.5 mm. long, twisted and slightly thickened upwards, anther lobes <1 mm. long; staminodes minute.
Ovary 1.5 mm. long, quite glabrous, with a few sessile glands; style 4 mm. long, dorsoventrally compressed; stigma stomatomorphic, papillose.
Inflorescences one or two from the leaf stalk, generally 2-flowered, but up to 6.
Peduncles very slender and wiry, up to 75 mm. long, with a few spreading hairs.
Calyx divided to the base into 5 lanceolate segments 3.5 × 1 mm., pubescent.
Capsule 7–10 × c. 2 mm., crowned with the persistent style.
Seeds 0.4–0.5 mm. long, reticulate.
Pedicels up to 15 mm. long, wiry.
Perennial, rosulate.
