Characteristics

Perennial herb, lithophyte or terrestrial, 0.06-0.30 m high. Leaves 3-10, prostrate or slightly raised off ground, broadly elliptic or rhomboid, 200 x 75 mm, base cuneate, apex subacute, margins crenate, grey to grey-green, densely pilose. Inflorescence from base of midrib, 2-12-flowered. Calyx 4 x 1 mm. Corolla 20-30 mm long; tube straight, pale violet outside, deeper violet inside, whitish below, streaked and spotted violet. Stamens in lower quarter of tube; filaments 3.5 mm long. Ovary ± 4.5 mm long. Flowering time Jan.-Apr. Fruit a capsule, 17-40 x 2 mm, apiculate. Seed 0.6-0.8 mm long.
