Characteristics

Perennial. Leaves 1-3, up to 120 x 84 mm, dark green, sparingly pilose, margin crenate, base cordate. Inflorescences from base of midrib, c. 12-flowered. Peduncles up to 120 mm; pedicels c. 10-20 mm long, both sparsely pilose with glandular and eglandular hairs. Calyx divided to the base into 5 linear segments, 2 x 0.5 mm. Corolla c. 18 mm long, white, the tube sometimes suffused violet, pale yellow in throat, pilose with glandular and eglandular hairs outside, glandular around mouth inside; tube 9 mm long, c. 2 mm diam., subcylindric, abruptly deflexed then directed forwards, laterally compressed in the mouth; limb flat, oblique, more conspicuous than the tube, lateral sinuses usually broad; upper lip of 2 elliptic lobes, 6 x 3 mm, lower lip c. 10 mm long, 15 mm broad, lobes oblong to suborbicular c. 6 x 4 mm. Stamens inserted about halfway up the corolla tube, filaments 2.5 mm long, glandular; anther lobes 1 mm long, purplish. Ovary 2 mm long, pubescent, sparsely glandular; style terete, 1 mm long; stigma truncate to subcapitate. Capsule 20(14 ± 2) mm long, 2 mm in diam., often deflexed at maturity. Seeds0.4-0.7 mm long, reticulate.
