Characteristics

Monocarpic. Leaf 1, up to c. 300 x 300 mm, base cordate, margin crenate, both upper and lower surfaces pilose, the veins on the lower surface and the prominent stalk villous. Inflorescences c. 36-flowered, many flowers open together. Peduncles stout, up to 300 mm long, pilose with glandular and eglandular hairs. Pedicels up to 50 mm long, glandular-pilose. Bracts linear-lanceolate, up to 27 x 4 mm. Calyx divided to the base into 5 lanceolate segments 7.5-12 x 2 mm, glandular-pilose. Corolla c. 55 mm long, glandular-pilose outside, glabrous inside, white with a pronounced yellow blotch at base of lower lip, sometimes patterned with 3 reddish-violet linked vees in mouth of tube; tube cylindric below, funnel-shaped above, strongly curved downwards, c. 35-40 mm long, c.
