Characteristics

Corolla 50–60 mm. long; tube 30–40 × 6–7 mm., almost straight or slightly deflexed and widened above the middle, most of the short spreading hairs on the outside glandular; upper lip of 2 rounded lobes 8–13 × 7–10 mm., lower lip 17 mm. long, median lobe 11 × 10 mm., laterals 9×9.

Leaf broadly ovate, up to 25 × 28 cm., base cordate; upper surface shortly but rather densely pilose, the lower surface densely pilose on the nerves, more sparingly so in between; margin shallowly crenate.
Ovary 20 mm. long, densely short spreading pubescent, most of the hairs eglandular, passing into style 10 mm. long and becoming more glandular upwards; stigma stomatomorphic.
Peduncles 10–20 cm. long, densely pilose-pubescent with eglandular and (especially towards top) glandular hairs.
Stamens arising in upper third of corolla tube; filaments 6–8 mm., glandular towards top; anther lobes 2 mm.
Calyx segments 5–10 × 1.5 mm., linear, obtuse, densely pilose-pubescent, many of the hairs often glandular.
Inflorescences 1–5, many-flowered, several flowers open simultaneously on each.
Bracts usually linear, c. 8 × 1.5 (3) mm. long, densely pilose.
Pedicels densely glandular-pilose, 30–45 mm. long.
Capsule 50–90 (usually c. 80) mm. long.
Seeds 0.4–0.6 mm. long, reticulate.
