Characteristics

Liana to 10 m long; latex white.. Leaves opposite, blade elliptic or slightly obovate, 4–11.5 cm long, 1.5–4.5 cm wide, base cuneate, apex acuminate, glabrous; petiole 4–12 mm long.. Inflorescence 1–6-flowered; peduncle 2–12 mm long; pedicels 4–11 mm long.. Sepals equal, erect or spreading, ovate, 5–12 mm long, 1.5–3 mm wide, acute, glabrous; corolla white turning yellow with violet tinge outside and violet streaks inside; tube 15–25 mm long, corolla lobes ovate, 5–7 mm long, 3.5–7 mm wide, narrowing into 2–6 cm long spreading or pendulous tails, corona lobes 4–6.5 mm long.. Fruit woody, hard, the mericarps cylindrical or nearly so, 18–21 cm long, 1.4 cm in diameter, tapering to a knob or less often into an obtuse tip, lenticellate, glabrous; seeds 15–17 mm long, densely puberulous, with a stalked coma 4–4.5 cm long.
