Characteristics

Climber or trailing shrub. Branchlets densely lenticellate. Leaves: petiole 3-11 mm long; blade papery or subcoriaceous, elliptic to obovate, 2-12.6 by 1-5.5 cm, 1.4-3(-3.8) times as long as wide, apex acuminate, base cuneate or decurrent onto petiole, 4-9 pairs of veins anastomosing before margin. Inflorescence 6-18 cm long, 2-25-flowered; peduncles 10-54(-75) mm long; pedicels 4-11(-16) mm long; bracts linear, 4-15(-19) by 1-2 mm, pubescent. Sepals pubescent, ciliate, linear, 6-17.7 mm long. Corolla white or pale yellow with maroon or purplish parts; tube 9.5-19 mm long, widening at 5.3-8 mm, glabrous outside, puberulous inside; lobes 2.4-9 cm long, to 6 mm wide, drawn out into narrow tails, glabrous outside and inside or puberulous inside; corona lobes narrow triangular, 2.8-6.5 mm long. Stamens inserted at 5-8 mm from corolla base; anthers narrowly triangular, 1-1.6 cm long of which acumen 7.5-12.5 mm. Ovaries 1-2.3 mm, minutely pubescent; style and style head 6.5-10 mm long. Fruit tapering to an obtuse apex, 11-24.5 by 2.5 cm, densely lenticellate. Seeds 10-18 by 3-4.3 mm; glabrous; beak glabrous for 0.8-1.5 cm and bearing a coma for 1.4-2.6 cm, coma 5.5-9 cm long.

Follicles oblong, 11-25 2.5-3 cm, woody, densely lenticellate, divergent at 180°. Seeds 1-1.8 cm, beak 2.2-4.4 cm, coma 5.5-9 cm. Fl. Mar-Jun, fr. Jul-Dec. 2n = 22.
