Characteristics

Small tree to 5 m tall. Stipules broadly triangular, 0.6–1 mm long, 0.5–0.8 mm wide, resinous. Leaves: petiole 5–8 mm long; lamina elliptic, elliptic-oblong or narrowly cuneate-obovate, 4–18.5 cm long, 1.5–8.5 cm wide; base attenuate to cuneate; margins entire; apex rounded to obtuse; lateral veins 6–10 per side of midrib. Male flowers: pedicels 1.5–8 mm long; calyx lobes 5, orbicular-ovate to ovate, 3.5–4 mm long, 2.5–3.5 mm wide; stamens 18–28, filaments 2.5–5 mm long, anthers 0.8–1 mm long. Female flowers: pedicels 2.5‑4 mm long; calyx lobes 5, lanceolate-ovate, 1.8–2.5 mm long, 1–1.8 mm wide; ovary globose, 1.5–2.5 mm long, 1.5–2.5 mm wide, styles 0.7–1 mm long. Fruit globose, 8–12 mm long, 9–12 mm diam., orange-red. Seeds c. 4 mm diam.
