Characteristics

Plants large. Stems 10-30 mm long. Leaves erect to spreading, spathulate, 3-4 mm long; apex rounded, emarginate; margins recurved to revolute below, border absent or indistinct; costa excurrent as long, hyaline, dentate awn, denticulate dorsally. Upper laminal cells papillose; basal cells hyaline, thin-walled. Gemmae in chains on ventral side of costa, globular, multicellular. Capsule straight or slightly curved, peristome teeth twisted.
