Annual herb, up to 0.5 m high. Stems procumbent, up to 250 mm long. Leaves petiolate; papulose; blade elliptic or rhombic, 5-10 x 4-7 mm, thick; petioles 4-7 mm long. Flowers: axillary; solitary; pedicels 1-3 mm long; perianth segments 4, broadly triangular, apices obtuse, connate at bases, thin, yellowish green; Oct.-Mar. Fruit papulose, 4-5 x 3 mm, base truncate, covered with spines, 1.0-1.5 mm long, fruiting pedicel up to 6 mm long.
