Characteristics

Plants softly woody at least below, from a woody base. Sepals connate basally. Coarsely hairy subshrub with sturdy, erect stems to 50 cm. Leaves rhomboid-oblanceolate, often crowded below. Flowers subsessile, in axillary and terminal spikes or tufts, yellow, large, 5-8 mm, sepals connate and constricted below. Fruits 4-winged, with knobs between wings, coarsely hairy, 15-25 mm.
