Characteristics

Plant 45-125 cm tall; tufts 10-25 cm across at base. Aerial stems 2-7 cm long. Leaves 20-65 cm long; lamina flat or complicate, obtuse, 1.2-2.8 cm wide. Inflorescence cymose, open, with more than 4 major branches and several minor branches; lower bracts leaf-like, upper subulate. Perianth segments linear to elliptic, acute to ±retuse, 11-14 mm long, 3-7-nerved, deep blue to white. Filaments 5-7 mm long; anthers 2.5-4.5 mm long before coiling. Ovary 1.6-2.5 mm long; ovules 6-9 per locule; style 3-5.5 mm long. Capsule obovoid to ellipsoidal, triquetrous, 8-10 mm long, 3.5-4.5 mm wide. Seeds 2.5-3 mm long, verruculose to ±rugulose.
