Characteristics

Plant to c. 40 cm tall; tufts 1-5 cm across at base. Aerial stems to 10 cm long, sometimes ±scaly towards base. Leaves 15-35 cm long; lamina flat, often complicate, ±apiculate, 0.1-0.5 cm wide. Inflorescence umbel-like or corymb-like, with 1-3 branches; lower bracts linear, upper subulate. Perianth segments ±narrowly elliptic, acute, 4.3-8 mm long, 5-nerved or petals sometimes 3-nerved, white. Filaments 2.5-4 mm long; anthers 1-2.3 mm long before coiling. Ovary 1.6-2 mm long; ovules 4 per locule; style 1.4-2.2 mm long. Capsule ±obovoid, triquetrous, 5-7 mm long, 2-3 mm wide. Seeds 2.5-3.5 mm long, smooth.
