Leaf 100–400 × 5–20 mm, thick, fleshy, green, base purplish. Flower stem 200–600 × 2–5 mm, 2–13-flowered. Sterile bracts 2 to 4, lowest bract leaf-like. Flowers 15–27 mm across, deep blue, externally light brown, scented. Sepals and petals 8–13 × 4–7 mm. Column 5.5–6.5 × 2.5–3.5 mm, white to pale blue; post-anther lobe not hooding anther, 3.5–5 × 1.5–2.2 mm, semi-cylindrical, curved, dark brownish with yellow apex, upper margin deeply cleft and toothed; column arms converging, 1.5–2 mm long, obliquely erect, curved; hair-tufts mop-like, white, hairs 1–1.5 mm long. Anther in middle of column.
