Characteristics

Plants clumping. Leaf 120–300 × 5–15 mm, very fleshy, brittle, dark green, base purplish. Flower stem 100–300 × 1.5–3.3 mm, 2–8-flowered. Sterile bract usually 1. Flowers crowded, 15–22 mm across, pale blue or pale purplish blue. Sepals and petals 6–11 × 3–7 mm. Column 4–6.5 × 2.5–3.5 mm, pale blue; post-anther lobe 2.5–3.5 × 1.5–2.5 mm, dark purplish to reddish brown with yellow apex, gently curved, inflated, hooded, almost entire to shallowly notched; column arms converging, 0.8–1.3 mm long, curved sharply upwards; hair-tufts toothbrush-like, white, hairs 0.5–1 mm long, covering apex of post-anther lobe.
