Characteristics

Leaf 100–300 × 5–11 mm, fleshy, dark green, base purplish. Flower stem 200–450 × 1.5–2.5 mm, 2–8-flowered. Sterile bracts usually 2. Buds prominently inflated. Flowers 14–22 mm across, internally mauve to bluish purple, externally pinkish with darker stripes. Sepals and petals 6–10 × 3.5–6.5 mm, concave. Column 4.5–5.5 × 2.5–3.5 mm, pink or purplish; post-anther lobe 2.5–3.5 × 1.9–2.7 mm, dark purplish with yellow apex, curved abruptly through 90º, tubular, flattened dorsally, hooded, deeply notched; column arms 1.3–1.7 mm long, curved gently upwards; hair-tufts mop-like, white, dense, hairs 1–1.5 mm long embracing front of post-anther lobe.
