Characteristics

Leaf linear, 60–200 × 1–3 mm, fleshy, green with purple base or wholly purplish. Flower stem 150–300 mm tall, 1–7-flowered. Sterile bract 1. Flowers 10–12 mm across, internally deep blue with 8–10 darker lines, externally purple to brown. Sepals and petals 6–7 × 4–5 mm. Column 3.5–4 × 2–2.5 mm, blue; post-anther lobe 1.5–2 mm long, reddish brown with yellow apex, tubular, not inflated, hooded, curved sharply forward before middle, narrower and ribbed towards apex, margins crinkled; column arms parallel, c. 1 mm long, curved sharply upwards; hair tufts mop-like, somewhat elongated, white, touching front of column, hairs c. 0.8 mm long, tip thickened.
