Characteristics

Leaf 100–500 × 8–20 mm, fleshy, pale green with a whitish bloom, base purplish. Flower stem 250–800 × 1.5–5 mm, glaucous to purplish, 3–15-flowered. Sterile bracts usually 2, rarely 3. Flowers 30–50 mm across, pale blue, mauve or white, strongly and sweetly scented. Sepals and petals 8–20 × 4–10 mm, barely overlapping. Column 5.5–7.5 × 3–4.5 mm, pale blue or pinkish; post-anther lobe 3.5–4.5 × 2.5–3.5 mm, hooding anther, tubular, strongly inflated, greyish brown with a yellow apex, toothed, V-notched; column arms converging, 1–2 mm long, curved sharply upwards; hair-tufts toothbrush-like, white or creamy yellow, hairs 1–1.5 mm long.
