Leaf 70–250 × 5–10 mm, linear, leathery, dark green with purplish base. Flower stem 200–550 × 1.5–3.5 mm, 1–14-flowered. Sterile bracts usually 2. Flowers 25–30 mm across, dark blue to purplish. Sepals and petals 10–17 × 4–10 mm. Column 6–7.5 × 3–4 mm, pale blue or pinkish; post-anther lobe 2.5–3.5 × 2–3mm, hooding anther, brownish with yellow apex or wholly yellow, erect, elongated, tubular, entire; column arms converging, 1.5–2 mm long, bent sharply upwards near middle; hair-tufts toothbrush-like, thin, white, hairs 0.7–1.1 mm long.
