Characteristics

Plants clumping. Leaf strongly curved, 70–150 × 6–15 mm, dark green to reddish with purplish base, ribbed. Flower stem 70–200 × 1.5–3 mm, powdery, 1–8-flowered. Sterile bracts 1 to 3. Flowers 17–35 mm across, pale blue or white. Sepals and petals 9–17 × 2–4 mm, sharply pointed. Column 6–7.5 × 2.5–3 mm, white or pale blue; post-anther lobe 2–2.3 × 2–2.4 mm, hooding anther, mostly yellow with dark blue collar or wholly yellow, erect, base narrow, apex expanded, rounded, shallowly notched; column arms converging, 1–1.8 mm long, curved at right angles; hair-tufts toothbrush-like, white, hairs c. 1 mm long.
