Characteristics

Leaf 100–200 × 4–13 mm, linear, fleshy, dark green, base purplish. Flower stem 200–650 × 1.5–3 mm, 1–7-flowered. Sterile bracts usually 2. Flowers 15–25 mm across, pale blue or pink with faintly darker longitudinal veins, exterior brownish purple. Sepals and petals 8–12 × 3–7 mm, concave, labellum widest. Column 4–5.5 × 2.5–3.5 mm, broadly winged, pale blue; post-anther lobe slightly hooding anther, 1.5–2 × 1.5–2 mm, reddish brown to black, apex rough to warty, yellow or pink; column arms strongly incurved, tips often touching, 1.5–2 mm long, pink or brown with cream to yellow apex, shallowly toothed or lobed. Anther near column apex.

Highly localised; found growing around margins of grass tree plains dominated by Xanthorrhoea resinosa and in low, sedgy heath and heathy forest in moist to wet, gravelly loam and peaty loam; also colonises disturbed sites including road verges and gravel scrapes.
