Characteristics

Leaf 60–210 × 3–6 mm, linear to filiform, dark green, base purplish. Flower stem 80–400 × 0.7–2.5 mm, 1–6-flowered. Sterile bract usually 1. Flowers 13–27 mm across, internally light blue to azure blue with darker longitudinal veins, sometimes flushed with mauve or pink, exterior often brownish. Sepals and petals 6–13 × 2–8 mm, concave; labellum narrower than petals. Column 3–5 × 1.5–2.5 mm, blue to purplish, winged with projecting flanges; post-anther lobe hooding anther, 0.5–0.9 × 1–2 mm, blackish with yellow, fleshy, curved, toothed or warty apex; auxiliary lobes converging, held close to post-anther lobe, separated by 2 inward folds, thick, fleshy, tips yellow, toothed or warty; column arms obliquely erect, converging, 0.5–1 mm long; hair-tufts mop-like, hairs white, 0.9–1.1 mm long. Anther at base of column.
