Characteristics

Leaf 200–350 × 5–12 mm, fleshy, ribbed, dark green, base purplish. Flower stem 300–550 × 1–3.5 mm, 1–7-flowered. Sterile bracts usually 2. Flowers 16–24 mm across, dark blue, petals and labellum darker than sepals. Sepals and petals 8–12 × 4–7 mm, concave. Column 5–6 × 2.5–3.5 mm, blue or pinkish; post-anther lobe tubular, thinly covered with glistening secretion, 2.5–4 × 2–2.7 mm, dark purplish black with yellow apex, inflated, hooded, gently curved, deeply V-notched; column arms converging, 1–1.5 mm long; hair-tufts toothbrush-like, white or creamy yellow, with hairs 1–1.2 mm long.
