Characteristics

Leaf 100–350 × 5–20 mm, thin-textured to fleshy, light green to dark green, base purplish. Flower stem 250–750 × 1.5–5 mm, 3–25-flowered. Sterile bracts usually 3. Flowers 18–32 mm across, slaty blue to mauve, externally greenish blue. Sepals and petals 8–16 × 3–7 mm. Column 6–7.5 × 2.5–3.7 mm, white, blue or mauve; post-anther lobe tubular, 2–4 × 1.5–2.5 mm, dark reddish brown with yellow apex, inflated, hooded, shallowly notched; column arms converging, 1–1.5 mm long, curved upwards; hair-tufts mop-like, pink or mauve (rarely white), hairs 1–1.5 mm long.
