Characteristics

Leaf 80–250 × 3–10 mm, fleshy, dark green, base purplish. Flower stem 120–400 × 1–2.5 mm, 2–15-flowered. Sterile bract usually 1. Flowers 15–32 mm across, blue with darker blue longitudinal veins, centre and tips sometimes flushed mauve. Sepals and petals 7–15 × 3–6 mm, concave; labellum narrower than petals. Column 3–5 × 1.8–3 mm, whitish or pale blue, winged with 2 flanges; post-anther lobe hooding anther, 0.8–1.4 × 2–2.5 mm, purplish black with yellow crest, nearly circular, fleshy, toothed to lobed, wavy; auxiliary lobes converging, narrow, apex similar to post-anther lobe; column arms obliquely erect, converging, 1.5–2.5 mm long; hair-tufts mop-like, hairs white or purplish, 0.7–1 mm long. Anther near middle of column.
