Characteristics

Leaf 100–200 × 4–8 mm. Flower stem 100–250 × 2–3 mm, 1–4-flowered. Sterile bracts 2 or 3. Flowers upward-facing, 15–20 mm across, blue suffused with mauve and with darker veins, a few small spots on petals. Sepals and petals 7–11 × 5–5.5 mm. Column 5–5.5 × 2.2–2.6 mm, pink, purple or blue, base pink; post-anther lobe 1.6–2 × 0.8–1.2 mm, brown with dark collar and yellow apex, tubular, swollen, dorsal surface wrinkled, irregularly and shallowly lobed; column arms converging, c. 0.8 mm long, obliquely erect; hair-tufts mop-like, dense, cream, hairs c. 1 mm long.
