Characteristics

Leaf 100–250 × 3–10 mm, fleshy, ribbed, dark green, base purplish. Flower stem 170–450 × 1–2 mm, 1–6-flowered. Sterile bracts usually 2, sometimes 3. Flowers 15–20 mm across, bluish purple, sepals and petals reflexing strongly. Sepals and petals 5–10 × 2.5–5 mm, concave. Column 4–5.5 × 2–3 mm, pink or purplish; post-anther lobe hooding anther, 1.8–2.5 × 1.3–2 mm, dark blackish green to brownish, gently curved, tubular, deeply notched; column arms parallel or converging, 1–1.4 mm long, curved upwards; hair-tufts mop-like, white, rarely pink, hairs 0.6–1 mm long.
