Characteristics

Leaf 120–350 × 10–35 mm, very thick, fleshy, green to yellowish green, base purplish. Flower stem 200–550 × 4–10 mm, 3–15-flowered. Sterile bracts usually 2, lowest bract large and leaf-like. Flowers 25–35 mm across, pale blue, often bell-shaped. Sepals and petals 10–20 × 8–14 mm, concave. Column 7–9 × 4–5.5 mm, cream to white; post-anther lobe hooding anther, 2–3 × 1.5–2.2 mm, light brown with yellowish apex, gently curved, globose, deeply cleft, lobes shallowly toothed; column arms 0–1 mm long, (sometimes absent), curved; hair-tufts mop-like, sparse, white, hairs 1–1.3 mm long. Anther in middle of column.

Localised; found growing in open, grassy forest and heathy forest in stony soil and on sand dunes; on Clarke Island it grows among large tussocks of Gahnia in sedge land in dark, sandy to peaty loam.
