Characteristics

Leaf 50–200 × 10–30 mm. Flower stem 150–450 × 2–3.5 mm, green, 2–12-flowered. Sterile bracts usually 2. Flowers often crowded, 30–45 mm across, brown to reddish brown with large yellow blotches and streaks, externally similar. Sepals and petals 12–22 × 3–7 mm, labellum narrowest. Column 5.5–8 × 3–5 mm, base orange brown, apex orange, very broadly winged, wings spreading like mantle, margins deeply fringed (teeth to 2 mm long); dorsal part of post-anther lobe covered by dense mass of orange globose papillae; supra-anther lobe 2–3 mm long, rod-like, orange, with projecting apex that resembles the head of a mud-skipper; lateral lobes 1.5–2 mm long, finger-like, orange. Anther with a fleshy, curved, beak-like appendage 2–3 mm long.
