Characteristics

Epiphytic plants. Aerial shoots unbranched, pendulous, 4–20 cm long, growing for one season and terminating in a sterile leaf slightly shorter, equal to or longer than longest leaves. Sporogenous leaves restricted to base, spirally arranged; sterile leaves flattened into 1 plane, ovate to ovate-oblong, 2 or 3 per cm, 6–25 mm long, 2–8 mm wide; upper surface shiny; lower surface dull; margins often thickened; apex acute or obtuse, mucronate. Synangia 2–4 mm long; length c. twice the height.
