Rami decumbentes, in plantis juvenilibus ad 10 cm. longi visi, 2 mm. diam., internodiis saepius 0.5-1 cm. diam., papillato hispidi, setis erectis vel adscendentibus, sat longis, primo mollibus, cum aetate induratis; partes herbaceae sordide olivaceae; folia adscendentia vel fere erecta, supra plana, lat. visa supeme leviter attenuata obtusaque, saepius 7-9 mm. longa, basi ad 3 mm. diam., papillis subovalibus, utrinque setiferis, setis minutis rigidis, basalibus brevioribus vel nullis, setis ‘barbae’ 6-12, albidis, ad 3 mm. longis; pedunculus ad 7 mm. longus, cum receptaculo 4 mm. longo, 6 mm. diam., hispidus, setis fere erectis, mollibus canis; flores meridie expansi, 2.4 cm. diam.; sepala 5, omnia barbata, 3-5 mm. longa; petala 2-seriata, obtusa vel leviter emarginata, inferne conspicue attenuata, nivea, ad 1.1 cm. longa, ad 2 mm. lata; staminodia acuminata, nivea, ad 6 mm. longa; stamina conico collecta, deinde subdiffusa, 3-5 mm. longa, filamentis interioribus medio papillatis, antlieris stramineis; glandulae conspicuae crenulatae; ovarii lobi subdistantes obtusi, fere per 1 mm. elevati; stigmata 5, subulata, 2 mm. longa, stamina intima vix aequantia; capsula 7 mm. diam., per 2 mm. elevata, lobis valde compressis. Perennial, dwarf shrublet, up to 0.08 m high, with thick tuberous rootstock, stems decumbent or erect. Leaves subcylindrical, crowded, bladder cells elongate terminating in a sharp point at upper end, lower end obtuse, diadem radiating, cup-cells brown, bristles paler. Flowers solitary, white. Flowering time June-Sept. Capsules 5-locular, pale gold-coloured, covering membranes narrow, incomplete, valve wings obtuse at apex.
