Creeping herbs, often forming large mats. Stems much branched, appressed antrorse strigose. Leaves in two rows flat on the ground by twisting of the sheath-like, clasping petiole, petiole 1-7 mm long, blade oblong, oblong-ovate or spathulate, 0.4-2 by 0.2-0.9 cm, abruptly narrowed into petiole, apex rounded or often retuse, glabrous above, strigose along midrib alone below, margins antrorse strigose. Flowers solitary, axillary or extra-axillary; pedicels 1-3 mm long in flower, up to 7 mm in fruit, antrorse strigose. Calyx 3.5-4.5 cm long, divided to about 1-1.5 mm above base into ovate to lanceolate, 1-1.5 mm wide, acutish lobes with black gland outside below apex, antrorse strigose outside along midrib and margins. Corolla white or pink, purple or white with bluish tinge, tube 1-1.5 mm long, lobes ovate-orbicular or sometimes spathulate, 1.5-3 by 1.5-2.5 mm, rounded, finely papillate inside; fornices yellow, kidney-shaped, c. 0.5 mm wide, 0.2 mm long, finely ciliate. Stamens 1 mm long, anthers 0.8 mm. Pistil: style 0.7-1 mm long.
